Since founding the Montreal School of Gemmology (EGM) in 1995, Odile Civitello has created numerous gemmology courses, written extensive course notes, and has published articles in many international trade publications.


During her twenty years as Director of the Montreal School of Gemmology (EGM) Odile Civitello taught hundreds of courses from introductory classes to specialized advanced workshops. On many occasions she has been invited to lecture at libraries, museums, and association meetings on various topics related to the gem and jewellery industry. Conferences and lectures can be given in both English and French.


Perfectly bilingual, Odile Civitello has translated multiple theoretical and practical gemmological texts including the Gemmological Association of Great Britain’s (Gem-A) Diploma in Gemmology course notes and practical handbook. Odile Civitello offers translation services for all types of documents related to gems and jewellery.

Writing and Editing

Odile Civitello can help with the preparation and, or editing of texts related to gems and jewellery for company newsletters or promotional campaigns. As Director of EGM, Odile Civitello was responsible for producing many types of documents including, newsletters, press releases, promotional flyers, and course notes. She has also written many articles for trade publications including Canadian Jeweller and Jewellery Business.
